Scope and Contents From the Series:

The “Clarksville Federation of Women’s Clubs Records” series, which dates from 1927 to 1999, includes the administrative materials for the Federation, such as by-laws, rules, and the organization’s constitution. In addition, it includes other personal documents, such as writings, correspondences, and notes that are believed to have belonged to Ruby Collier, the organization’s historian. This series is arranged by topic.

Scope and Contents From the Series:

The “Woman’s Book Club Records” series, which dates from 1898-1963, includes the documents pertaining to the topics studied by the club. The year books document the yearly schedule of the club and include complete lists of members and officers. Additionally, the minute books document the content of the meetings and the various aspects of organizing the club. This collection is arranged by topic, and the year books are arranged chronologically.

The Bennett-Marklin Family Collection houses the personal papers of V.L. Bennet and his wife Ailean Marklin Bennet. This collection, which dates from circa 1939-1960, consists of financial papers, insurance policies, receipts, greeting cards, a family bible, and a small number of photographs, primarily documenting the finances of V.L. and Ailean Bennett. The collection also includes a small notepad used at the Marklin family grocery store and an oversized dictionary.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: The 1999 Clarksville Tornado Photographs collection consists of photographs of downtown Clarksville after an F3 tornado struck on January 22, 1999 that severely damaged many historic buildings. This collection contains 71 photographs taken in the days following the disaster. The photographs were taken by Cindy Jackson and show many homes, churches, and vehicles that were badly damaged by the tornado as well as first responders clearing debris.
