Political Campaign Materials Collection
Scope and Contents
The bulk of the collection focuses on local elections between 2014 and 2018. Some of the most notable local races included are the Clarksville mayoral campaigns from 2002, 2006, 2014, 2018, and 2022. Additionally, there are materials from the Montgomery County mayoral campaigns from 2014, 2018, and 2022. The oldest items connected to local elections included in the collection are two campaign signs from 1966, one for Sam Boaz running for Law and Equity Court Judge and one for Patrick Monaghan running for Floterial Representative of Houston, Humphreys, and Montgomery counties. There are also additional newspapers and advertising materials concerning Patrick Monaghan's 1966 run for Floterial Representative.

Biographical / Historical
Over a period of several years, various individuals donated materials for this collection to the Montgomery County Archives. It consists of mailers, flyers, stickers, signs/posters, and favors for various elections from 1966-2022. The collection primarily focuses on local elections in Clarksville and Montgomery County, but there are several materials pertaining to state and national elections as well. This includes materials connected to the contentious 2016 U.S. presidential election, primarily focused on the campaign of Donald Trump.

The materials have been arranged chronologically and alphabetically by elected office. It begins with local elections in Clarksville and Montgomery County, followed by statewide elections and finally national elections.

Processing Information
As this collection was created with materials from several different donors, there was no existing order. The materials have been arranged chronologically and alphabetically by elected office. It begins with local elections in Clarksville and Montgomery County, followed by statewide elections and finally national elections. Oversized items and artifacts were added to the end of the collection to allow for specialized housing. Duplicate mailers were weeded from the collection to preserve space.
