Civil Warrants
Scope and Contents
The Circuit Court Civil Warrants collection houses non-criminal warrants issued in Montgomery County. This collection, which dates from 1953-1963, consists of general sessions warrants, responses from the Tennessee Secretary of State, and replevin warrants. These civil warrants were filed by the Circuit Court clerk on behalf of an individual or company seeking payment or item repossession from a defendant. Although they are not permanent records, the Archives have kept these warrants as a sampling for reference and research purposes. Additionally, they do not include all the civil warrants filed within the years of 1953-1963 in Montgomery County, rather a select few.
