The “Civil Warrants” series, which dates from 1960 to 1963, includes warrants filed by the Circuit Court clerk on behalf of a plaintiff. These warrants are requests for payment of past due balances incurred by, or damages caused by, the defendant. They include a summons date for the defendant to appear at the General Sessions Courthouse. The General Sessions Court judge records their decision on the back of the warrant, including the amount to be paid if settled in the plaintiff’s favor, or if the case has been dismissed or settled.
