Scope and Contents
The “Nuclear Fallout, Survival, and Civil Defense” series which dates from 1956 to 1962, includes pamphlets and guides to prepare for, and survive a nuclear attack. There are also booklets on how to build a fallout shelter. All of these informational pamphlets were created by the Federal Civil Defense Administration and the Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization. In addition, this series includes the Clarksville-Montgomery County 1962 plan of action and recovery in the event of a nuclear attack. Aside from local plans, Tennessee civil defense operations of 1961, and the city of Nashville’s 1958 survival plan are also included. This series is arranged in groups of similar content, and the defense plans are arranged by population size from largest to smallest.
