Biographical / Historical

Barksdale Elementary School opened on September 4, 1962 to help serve suburban residents in the eastern section of Clarksville. The school was named in honor of the late W. W. Barksdale, who served as the mayor of Clarksville from 1958 until his unexpected death on December 10, 1961.
