This collection includes the minutes of the Wednesday Club from May 30, 1933 to ca. June 1980. It also includes correspondence, notes, and reports regarding the membership of the club and other assorted materials. The bulk of the correspondence is from 1935 - 1936 and focuses on Wednesday Club Membership.

Biographical / Historical

The Wednesday Club was a women's social club in Clarksville, Tennessee. Members of the Wednesday Club met monthly to discuss community projects and cultural experiences. At each meeting a club member or invited guest would do a presentation on a topic of their choosing. Presentation topics ranged widely from historical backgrounds on people and places to literature reviews. Some programs consisted of slide shows from trips to different locations around the world which the group would then use to discuss the cultural differences and similarities with life in Tennessee.

The minutes were cleaned and removed from their three ring binders and placed in acid-free folders. Loose papers were cleaned and placed in acid-free folders.
