Scope and Contents
The Margaret Proctor Collection houses the family papers of Margaret Proctor and her ancestors. This collection, which dates from 1909 to 1962, consists of photographs, personal ephemera, letters from Ray Jarratt to Louise Jarratt, and a binder of genealogical research, evidencing the genealogical record of Margaret Proctors family. This collection primarily focuses on the genealogical records of the family and supporting documents. Records in this collection supply supporting evidence when applicable to detail the lives of the Proctor family ancestors by presence of photos and family ephemera.

Biographical / Historical
The roots of the Proctor Family can be traced back to Oxfordshire, England with the birth of William Rives in 1636. The materials in this collection focus primarily on the Jarratt Family branch and the Wilson/Lewis Family branch.
The Jarratt family branch focuses on the lives of parents David Roy Jarratt, 1886-1927, and Nancy Louise Pickering, 1889-1984, and their son Walton Pickering Jarratt, 1911-1989. David Roy Jarratt was born in 1886 in Nashville, Tennessee. He worked for the Jarratt- Dudley Hardware Company and spent the last 14 years of his life in Detroit, Michigan working in the Automobile Glass Business. He died November 16th, 1927.
Louise Pickering Jarratt, born Nancy Louise Pickering on May 8th, 1889, in Montgomery County to George H Pickering and Lizzie Walton Pickering. She was a saleslady for the McNeil and Edwards Co. for most of her life. Louise Jarratt passed at age 94 on April 24th, 1984. .
Walton Pickering Jarratt was born June 3rd,1911 to Mrs. Louise Pickering Jarratt and David Roy Jarratt in Clarksville, Tennessee. He worked for McNeal and Edwards Co. for over 50 years, before his passing June 7th, 1989, at age 78.
Margaret Wilson Jarratt is the connecting relative between the two family branches represented in this collection. Margaret Wilson Jarratt is the daughter of James Morris Wilson, 1886-1966, and Lucinda Eddie Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson were married in 1909. They also had another daughter, Sara Jeannette Wilson. Lucinda Eddie Lewis is the daughter of B.B. Lewis Sr. and Margaret West Outlaw. They also had a son, B. B. Lewis Jr.
Sara Jeannette Wilson married Claude Corlew Coke August 30, 1940. They had two daughters, Margaret Rose Coke and Suzanne Robert Bryant. Margaret Coke Proctor, born Margaret Rose Coke, married Robert Michael Proctor June 27th, 1964. They had two children, Robin Wilson and Rachel Stephens. Margaret Proctor was born March 25th, 1944, in Clarksville TN. She was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church and a graduate of Clarksville High School class of 1962. She died February 13, 2021.

Processing Information
Entry Materials were cleaned and placed in new acid-free folders and boxes. The collection was arranged into series based on the original order of the records as maintained by Margaret Proctor. Photographs were put into acid free sleeves.
