It shows Clarksville and the surrounding area, highlighting various features including heavy timber ranges, farmland, and important structures, including Stewart College. It was prepared under the direction of Col. William E. Merrill by Maj. James R. Willett.

The physical copy of this map held at the Montgomery County Archives is a facsimile, and was donated in two pieces. During processing each piece was scanned individually and edited in photoshop to make a single image.
