Content Description
This collection contains materials gathered by Rufus Lyle that outline his familial history. Included are individual family lines that range from the 1860’s until the 1900’s. Additional genealogical lines date to the 1880’s with the Harper family that was related to the Lyle’s. There are also various newspaper clippings, correspondences between family members, additional historic information, and photos primarily taken in the 1940’s and 1950’s in the collection.

Biographical / Historical
This collection contains information regarding Rufus Lyle’s family lineage. The Lyle family has lived in the Montgomery County area since the 1860’s with few family members moving outside of the county lines. The family lines begin with three brothers – Henry Clay Lyle, Carney Batson Lyle, and Matthew G. Lyle. Both Carney and Matthew were members of the bar and worked within the Montgomery County Criminal Court.
