Scope and Contents
The Danforth Family Photographs is a collection of 38 photographs taken in Syria (modern-day Lebanon) that belonged to sisters Agnes and Helen Danforth. The photographs, which date from circa 1884 to 1905, primarily consist of landscape views of the Adonis River Valley and surrounding locations in Syria. A small number also feature people and structures from the same region. The Danforth sisters were the children of missionaries based in Syria.

Description
Two photographs mounted to a large backing. The photograph on the left (labeled 20) is a black and white photograph of a grove of trees of varying heights. There are small white flowers growing on the ground, spread throughout the grove and other unidentified plants. The photograph on the right (labeled 21) is a black and white photograph of a man standing amid a grove of trees and holding onto a tree trunk. He is wearing a tall hat and has a beard. There is a break in the tree line for a dirt patch and hills in the background.
