Biography

R. V. Ball was born on June 25, 1924 in Lexington, Texas. He attended Texas Technological College and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a pilot during World War II. He married Montgomery County, Tennessee native Mary Jo Morrison in 1947. The couple eventually settled in Clarksville, Tennessee. In 1955 R. V. Ball was elected president of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. He held that position until 1963, shortly before he was named as Director of Budgeting and Accounts and Purchasing Agent for Montgomery County Government by County Judge William O. Beach. Ball was the first person to serve in this position as the department was newly formed. He remained in that roll until 1969 when he resigned to become an administrative and technical supervisor with the school lunch program of the Tennessee Department of Education. He remained with the organization until his retirement. He died on November 19, 2013 at the age of 89.
